Chocolate-201: Pass the (Candy) Bar Exam

Wednesday, September 10 2008 (10:46AM) | Posted by Rusty Worley | Commercial Street

On Thursday, September 25, from 7-9 pm, Askinosie Chocolate will offer a hands-on class on candy bar making. Those attending the class will learn the basics of making their own candy bar, and even have the chance to personalize their bar with extra ingredients of their choice. Askinosie Chocolate is proud to announce that all of the students from their Chocolate-101 class in August passed with honors. Though the final exam was tough (tasting so much chocolate), one bright pupil said that it was a “once-in-a-lifetime experience that we are blessed to have the opportunity to have in Springfield.”

Don’t worry, though, Chocolate-101 is not a pre-requisite for attending Chocolate-201: Candy Bar Making. The cost of registration for Chocolate-201 is $35 for one ticket, or $50 for two tickets. Call 417-862-9900, email info@askinosie.com, or stop by Askinosie Chocolate at 514 E. Commercial Street for details or to register for Chocolate 201.

Askinosie Chocolate is a small batch chocolate manufacturer located in Springfield, Missouri, sourcing 100% of their beans directly from the farmers. Shawn Askinosie, founder and chocolate maker (and frequent guest on Fox Business Network), travels to regions of Mexico and Ecuador to work directly with the farmers and source cocoa beans for his chocolate. This allows the chocolate to be traced to the source and labeled Authentic Single Origin Chocolate. It also enables Askinosie Chocolate to profit share with the farmers, giving them a Stake In the Outcome™. The Askinosie Chocolate mission is to serve their farmers, their neighborhood, their customers and each other; sharing the Askinosie Chocolate Experience by leaving the world a better place than they found it.
