Multi-talented comedian, actor and writer Rodney Carrington will return to Springfield for a performance at Gillioz Theatre on Thursday, February 11th. Rodney has recorded eight major record label comedy albums selling over two million copies, has starred in his own self-titled TV sitcom, which ran on ABC for two seasons and most recently co-wrote and co-starred with Toby Keith in the award-winning movie Beer for My Horses.

This past summer, Rodney released a new all-music CD, El Nino Loco, his 7th album on Capitol Nashville, which debuted at #2 on Billboard's comedy charts. Additionally, the first season (2004 - 2005) of the ABC television show Rodney has recently been made available exclusively in Wal-Mart stores.

In August, Rodney released his new Christmas album, Make It Christmas. "It ain't got a funny song on it," he says. "It's a big-band, Frank Sinatra-type Christmas record; something I've always wanted to do." The albums includes many holiday classics such as "Mary, Did You Know?," "O Holy Night" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".

According to Pollstar, Rodney has been among the top ten grossing touring comedians as he has performed for sold out audiences throughout the US and Canada for the last five years.

Guests will be treated to an unforgettable evening of laughter with one of America's foremost comedic talents.

Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel of the same name. It was produced by David O. Selznick and directed by Victor Fleming from a screenplay by Sidney Howard.

The epic film, set in the American South in and around the time of the American Civil War, stars Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, and Olivia de Havilland. It tells a story of the Civil War and its aftermath from a white Southern viewpoint.

It received ten Academy Awards (8 competitive, 2 honorary), a record that stood for twenty years. In the American Film Institute's inaugural Top 100 American Films of All Time list of 1998, it was ranked number four; although in the 2007 10th Anniversary edition of that list, it was dropped two places, to number six. In June 2008, AFI revealed its 10 top 10-the best ten films in ten American film genres-after polling over 1,500 persons from the creative community. Gone with the Wind was acknowledged as the fourth best film in the Epic genre.

It has sold more tickets in the U.S. than any other film in history, and is considered a prototype of a Hollywood blockbuster. Today, it is considered one of the greatest and most popular films of all time and one of the most enduring symbols of the golden age of Hollywood. When adjusted for inflation, Gone with the Wind remains the highest grossing film, both internationally and domestically, of all time. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gone_with_the_Wind_(film))

Doors will open one hour prior to the show. Television, radio, and literary critics compare them to acts as diverse as The Rolling Stones, John Coltrane, and Lou Reed. Modern day parallels also include acts ranging from Government Mule to Prince and the Revolution. New Blood always delivers a level of musical virtuosity while effortlessly keeping the fun, angst and energy of a punk rock band, with the skill, refinement and reflection typical of a jazz ensemble.

More “Winterin’ the Blues Away” artists to be announced soon.

For more information on the concert series (artists, tickets, times, etc.) or other upcoming shows, log onto www.myspace.com/nathanpmurphysclub or call 417-863-1909.

Nathan P.
