We’re not going to lie. We were bummed when Minor League Baseball canceled the 2020 season. A lot of people were.

The loss of the season meant more than no baseball in Downtown Springfield this year. It meant no warm summer nights in Downtown Springfield, spending time with people we love, eating ballpark food. And it meant no Friday Night Fireworks.

In case you haven’t heard the good news, we’re at least getting the fireworks back. The Springfield Cardinals have teamed up with Great Southern Bank for a Community Fireworks Series. We’re talking six nights of great shows by AM Pyrotechnics, set to music, and it’s all free! The series launched July 18.

This Saturday, July 25, will be a special Christmas in July Show-Ho-Ho. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. If you can’t make it to Downtown, you can watch the show on Facebook Live.

Hammons Field isn’t open, so fans are encouraged to find a parking spot near the stadium and tune their car radios or smartphone apps to these Midwest Family Broadcasting Stations to hear the soundtrack: 104.7 The Cave, 92.9 The Beat, 105.1 The Bull or Q102.1.

Even in a summer without Springfield Cardinals baseball, we are thankful Great Southern Bank was able to help bring back fireworks shows in a way that allows our community to safely enjoy the experience while remaining socially distanced.”
