Dry Ice Discovery Center 's annual summer fundraiser provides a stimulating and chilling escape to the summer heat. Einstein on Ice will be held on July 12th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Discovery Center , and all of the proceeds will go towards the renovation of an area in Discovery Town . HomeSweetHome will provide a great home base in Discovery Town where families can expand social science and imagination play plus it will be enhanced with home safety information.
During the day visitors can explore the entire Discovery Center , while checking out science under freezing and enhancing the day with visiting additional tables with home safety information. With the help of local businesses parents and children will get to experience things such as Springfield Fire Department Fire Safety House, view a demonstration by the Greene County Emergency Office and the Nebraska Task Force 1 Canine search and rescue dogs. These rescue teams have not only responded to local disasters but also national disasters such as 9/11/2001 and the Oklahoma City bombing. Demonstrations will be in the auditorium at 11:30am, 1:00 & 3:00pm. Other local businesses that will be onsite with information include: St. John's Hospital , Cox Health Childcare, and C.E.R.T. a local hometown ready program designed to help a community and its members. Admission for the day is $7.00 for non-members (all ages) $3.00 for members (all ages) - Children under 3 free. This includes exploring in the Center and Andy's Frozen Custard.
Each year, Einstein on Ice helps bring something new to the Discovery Center . With the past contributions, the Discovery Center has built several existing exhibits, including Capture Your Shadow and the Rainbow wall, the Hair Raiser Ball, Tesla Coil, and Observation Bee Hive. With this year's renovation of Discovery Town children and adults alike will be able to enjoy even more. Thanks to our sponsors: Andy's Frozen Custard and Empire Bank.
Tickets for Einstein on Ice are $3 for Discovery Center members and $7 for non-members. Children under 3 years are free. Visit the website at The Discovery Center or call 862-9910 for more information.
